Bellingham and Valverde react after Sevilla 0-2 Real Madrid – ‘Happy with the win, but sad because…’ | OneFootball

Real Madrid’s Jude Bellingham was pleased with the team’s 2-0 victory over Sevilla on Sunday night.

Although the match did not carry much weight in terms of the league table, Bellingham saw it as a chance for the team to improve ahead of the FIFA Club World Cup, a tournament that has now become one of the club’s top priorities.

Speaking to Real Madrid TV, Bellingham made it clear that lifting the World Cup is a serious goal for the club after what he called “a weak season.” He said, “The World Cup is important. It’s another title we hope to win. It’s a dream shared by the team and the club.”

The English midfielder also praised the role of youth players Víctor Munoz and Gonzalo in the build-up to his goal.

“It was a great move from the two young lads, and I was in the right place to finish it,” Bellingham explained.

He added that while the win was good, there was still some disappointment because the team had hoped to be fighting for more trophies in the final games of the season.

“It’s a game that wasn’t very important, but we need to improve on the last two matches. Happy with the win, but sad because we wanted to fight for titles in the final matches.”

Bellingham also had words of admiration for Kylian Mbappe, who scored for the fifth match in a row, bringing his total to 41 goals in his debut season with Real Madrid.

“He’s an amazing player and an even better person. We’re lucky to have him at this club, and I hope he stays for many years,” Bellingham said.

Valverde praises the effort

Bellingham wasn’t the only one reflecting on the result. Midfielder Federico Valverde also spoke to the media, highlighting the team’s strong mentality even when the pressure is off.

“It was a strange game since we had little at stake, but when you wear this shirt, you always play with pride,” Valverde said. “It was important to win and keep collecting points.”

Valverde took a moment to praise both goal scorers and the efforts of the youth players. “The second goal shows how much the young players have worked. They deserve the recognition,” he added.

With just one league game left, Real Madrid’s focus now shifts to ending La Liga on a high and building momentum for the Club World Cup, a title they are eager to bring home.

“I’m really excited and proud to represent Madrid in this competition. We’ll try to win it and give the fans another title,” added Valverde.
