Bruno Fernandes has been named the winner of Manchester United’s Player of the Month for April.
Fernandes has added to his February and March triumphs by claiming his third award of the 2024/25 season.
The United skipper scored a crucial penalty in extra time of United’s dramatic comeback against Lyon in the return leg of their Europa League quarter-final tie at Old Trafford.
He converted from the spot-kick to spark the dramatic turnaround, which sent United to the last four.
Earlier in that game, Fernandes could have bagged a sensational goal on the volley but his powerful effort struck the crossbar.
The Portuguese playmaker was also instrumental in the first leg at the Groupama Stadium, delivering a sublime ball for Joshua Zirkzee’s headed goal.
In the Premier League, Fernandes was named man of the match in two of the five games the Red Devils played, the goalless stalemate with Manchester City on April 6 and the 1-1 draw with Bournemouth on April 27.
The 30-year-old warded off stiff competition from Harry Maguire, Casemiro and Leny Yoro to win United’s Player of the Month for April.
Fernandes garnered 39% of the votes. Maguire came second with 27% while Casemiro and Yoro managed 24% and 9% respectively.
Fernandes appears to have picked up right where he left off, kicking off May with a standout display in United’s 3-0 victory over Athletic Club.
He scored from the penalty spot at the half-hour mark before producing an emphatic finish moments before the break, to ensure the Red Devils have one foot in the Europa League final.
The midfielder has now notched an impressive 19 goals and 18 assists across all competitions this term.
After the final whistle at San Mames, Fernandes told TNT Sports that he wants to continue delivering for United and help the club win trophies.
