Chelsea are thought to be considering whether to pay a penalty fee to send Jadon Sancho back to Manchester United this summer according to reports.

Sancho arrived at Stamford Bridge on deadline day last summer on an initial loan deal, which will become permanent for around £25m if the Blues don’t finish in the bottom six.

The 24-year-old made an impressive start at Stamford Bridge, but since scoring against Tottenham in December his form has drastically fallen off.

Chelsea considering sending Sancho back

However, reports have emerged in recent weeks stating the Blues have an option to pay a penalty fee and send Sancho back to Manchester United if they wish to do so.

Fabrizio Romano confirmed the current plan is to keep Sancho, but I Sport have now reported Chelsea could be considering their options.

The report states Chelsea are thought to be considering whether to pay a penalty fee, but as things stand their plan is stick to the current agreement.

I sport add that Sancho’s form has caused Chelsea to have a possible re-think, whilst United don’t want the winger back and are planning for next season without him.

Sancho has managed just two goals and one assist since the end of September, and didn’t even have a touch in the Arsenal box during Sunday’s defeat at the Emirates.

William Gallas has been heavily critical of the England international and Chelsea really need Sancho to step up and deliver over the run-un as the Blues look to win the Conference League and qualify for the Champions League.

Sancho needs to get back to form in these final nine games if he wants to avoid the embarrassment of being sent back, because if he continues with his current form he makes Chelsea’s decision to pay the penalty fee that much easier.
