The winter transfer window has come and gone, and one player Paris Saint-Germain considered but ultimately didn’t sign is Christopher Nkunku. Nonetheless, Chelsea are urged to part ways with the Frenchman.
Since joining Chelsea from RB Leipzig for £52 million in 2023, Nkunku has faced challenges in locking down a regular starting role, sparking speculation about his future at Stamford Bridge.
Journalist Ben Jacobs previously reported that PSG had seriously considered re-signing him, though no official offer was made.
On the other hand, Bayern Munich chose not to target Nkunku during the winter transfer window. However, according to Sport Bild’s Christian Falk, the German club could revisit their interest in the summer.

Former Chelsea striker Loïc Rémy has weighed in, suggesting that Christopher Nkunku might be better off leaving Stamford Bridge.
“Christopher Nkunku’s move to Chelsea hasn’t gone to plan, he had a serious injury and hasn’t been a regular starter,” Remy said (h/t TEAMtalk). “There was also massive expectation there.
“There was huge expectation thanks to his form in Germany, and he’s been unlucky; it looked like he could’ve left in the transfer window, and then he didn’t look himself in the FA Cup exit.
“I think it would be best for him to get a fresh start in the summer, whether that is a loan or a permanent move. Sometimes things don’t work out and it’s wrong to try and force it. I think he can bounce back elsewhere.”
He also recommended that the Blues target Crystal Palace’s Jean-Philippe Mateta.
“Jean-Philippe Mateta has the profile to thrive at Chelsea,” Remy added. “I saw him playing in the Olympics for the French national side and he impressed me a lot.
“He isn’t the type of player to really impress you technically but he is always there and loves scoring goals. He is so annoying to play against as a defender.
“He has the right profile and is on fire at the moment, I think many clubs are looking for a striker and I think we could see a big transfer for him in the summer.”
While Mateta is a solid player, he doesn’t quite match the profile Chelsea is currently after, as the club are focused on younger talent with untapped potential. However, it’s possible that Chelsea could eventually consider a player in his mid to late 20s down the line.
