The Blues were ahead after 20 minutes at Kingsmeadow, Johanna Rytting Kaneryd making space in the box to fire home inside Kinga Szemik’s near post.

They doubled the lead by the half-hour mark, when the Hammers lost possession outside their box and Sjoeke Nusken went round the keeper and slotted into an empty net.

In first-half added time, West Ham’s Vivianne Asseyi hit the outside of Hannah Hampton’s near post from a free kick.

Maika Hamano put a good chance high and wide for Chelsea after the break, Camila Sáez saw her late header caught underneath the crossbar by Hampton.

Arsenal and Manchester City contest the second semi-final at Boreham Wood FC on Thursday at 7pm, with the final at Derby County’s Pride Park Stadium on Saturday 15 March, kick off 12:15pm and broadcast live on the BBC.
