Crystal Palace will take on Everton in the Premier League on Saturday at Selhurst Park, and Oliver Glasner will be aiming for a third straight win in all competitions.
The Eagles are heading into this match on the back of a 2-0 victory over Doncaster Rovers in the FA Cup. Palace are brimming in confidence after beating Manchester United 2-0 at Old Trafford in their previous league game.
After a horrendous start to the season, Palace have steadied their ship and have lost only once in their last seven Premier League games. They have jumped to 12th in the table.
Everton, on the other hand, have shown signs of resurgence under David Moyes. The Toffees are undefeated in their last four Premier League games, including an emotional 2-2 draw against Liverpool at Goodison Park in midweek.
A late equaliser from James Tarkowski earned a precious point for Everton, and Chris Sutton is heavily impressed by the work Moyes has done so far.
The BBC pundit, however, fears that Everton could be in for a “tough afternoon” against the Eagles. He thinks Jean-Philippe Mateta will be hard to stop. Sutton predicts a narrow 1-0 win for the Eagles.
“You have to wonder how much Wednesday night will have taken out of the Toffees, and I suspect it was quite a lot. Crystal Palace are going well at the moment, and Jean-Philippe Mateta will be hard to stop.
“The Eagles been steadily climbing the table for a few weeks now and I am expecting that to continue, although it will be close.”
Mateta was outstanding for Palace towards the end of last season when he was scoring goals for fun. However, he struggled badly at the start of the season, and it coincided with the team’s poor form.
The Frenchman has now scored six goals in his last six games and has taken his goal tally to ten in the league. Everton need to come up with strong plans to stop him.
