Manchester United’s connection with Tottenham Hotspur target Mathys Tel ‘is already hot’, with the Red Devils having wanted him last summer.
A transfer battle has broken out for the Bayern Munich forward in the final days of the winter transfer window as Arsenal, Chelsea, Tottenham and Manchester United fight for him.
Tottenham have been the most active in pushing for a deal and are claimed to have an understanding with Bayern Munich based on a fee of €60m – but Tel has not said yes.
Now Manchester United are starting to flex their muscles and, according to BILD Insider (via FCBInside), the Red Devils ‘wanted him back in the summer’ and offered €50m.
As such, the connection between Manchester United and Tel ‘is already hot’, while Ruben Amorim is ‘a big fan of Tel’.
Manchester United are trying to back Amorim with extra options before the window closes, but the Red Devils have not yet managed to move on Marcus Rashford.
They could raise funds by cashing in on Alejandro Garnacho, who is wanted by Italian giants Napoli and has also been linked with Chelsea.
It remains to be seen if Manchester United will be able to follow Tottenham in agreeing a fee and what moves Arsenal and Chelsea make in the race.
