Cunha shows missing quality of player at Leicester during latest defeat | OneFootball

A lot will need to be improved over the next couple of years at Leicester. Saturday's fixture against the Wolverhampton Wanderers should have shown one thing in particular. The Foxes do not have their version of Matheus Cunha. In a sense, that goes without saying. After all, the Brazilian has 15 goals and six assists to his name so far in the Premier League.

Rather than meaning to make this about a one-to-one comparison with any player, LCFC need to see what Cunha brings to his side. Able to be a driving force from the center of the pitch or drift out wide, the Brazilian constantly creates problems for the opposition.

Then, when he's not on the ball, he knows how to position himself and offer his teammates an option. Because of his desire to produce in the attacking end, he'll often take that extra step or two that others don't to provide a teammate with a better angle.

Whether it's finishing it on his own or setting up someone else, Cunha is a well-rounded attacking midfield option for his side. When playing against City, he proved to be a nightmare for Ruud van Nistelrooy's men to deal with.

Seemingly always ahead of the midfield and forcing the defenders into tough situations, the final result didn't come as much of a shock to anyone. LCFC played its own part in its downfall, but the quality of Cunha needs to be applauded from Saturday's match.

It will take some doing, particularly given the current relegation situation that the club finds itself in. The Foxes need to either develop or get to a point where they can attract someone with a similar skill set to that of Cunha.

Desperately needed element at Leicester

Having someone who can drop deep and carry the ball forward into dangerous areas is an element that is missing with City. Then having the craftiness to either pick out a pass or finish all in one player would help to cover some of the other areas of deficiency in this current squad.

While the last EPL result was another frustrating display, watching someone like Cunha perform at a high level is an example of what Leicester needs to be able to match in the future. It wasn't that long ago when Wolves themselves earned promotion from the Championship.
