That's according to Opta data, gathered by talkSPORT BET, who report that across the first eight gameweeks of the Premier League season, the Gunners have averaged 5.39 fouls for every yellow card they have picked up.

Champions City, meanwhile, are punished far more regularly and earn a booking every 2.83 fouls. That is the harshest record in the top flight, with Chelsea's average of 2.93 in second and Manchester United in third with 3.42.

Arsenal enjoy the most lenient refereeing of any 'Big Six' team, with Liverpool next with an average of 5.28 fouls. Tottenham are in third with 4.95.

Liverpool have received 18 yellow cards from 95 fouls, while Arsenal have picked up 18 yellows from 97 fouls.

Ryon Scott-Douglas, spokesperson for talkSPORT BET, said: "A lot has been made of referees’ treatment of Arsenal this season, but it seems the officials are taking their side this season, whilst their title rivals see themselves punished more than any other team in the league."
