Hull have received a new offer from a league rival for the defender.
Preston North End have joined Derby County in the race to sign Cody Drameh, and have had their own bid for the full-back rejected by Hull City.
Drameh, 23, is a man in demand. While Hull's near future remains uncertain, their Championship rivals are attempting to pounce and seal an early-summer deal for the ex-Leeds United player.
Derby saw their loan offer for Drameh turned down a week ago, according to Pete O'Rourke. He played 28 Championship games for City this season but fell out of favour with Ruben Selles towards the end of the campaign.
Drameh only signed for Hull as a free agent last summer after leaving Elland Road when his contract with them expired.
The Spanish boss has since been sacked, though, which could present an opportunity for Drameh to get back into the first XI under a new boss. Former Sunderland, Rangers and Queens Park Rangers head coach Michael Beale is the latest to be linked with the vacant position in Humberside.
Preston have joined the race to sign the right-back this summer, according to Sky Sports, who added that the Tigers are willing to let the defender leave the MKM Stadium on a permanent deal this summer, just not for the value that they have been offered so far.
Their initial bid for Drameh has been turned down, but, like Derby, they are expected to make a new offer to Hull.
The interest in the 23-year-old isn't just coming from within this country. According to French reports, Stade Reims and Toulouse like the look of him. They, however, are not said to have made any offers to the Tigers for the full-back.
The two Championship clubs narrowly avoided relegation this season, just like the team that they are trying to buy from. County ended the season in much better form than Paul Heckingbottom's side though, thanks to a turnaround inspired by John Eustace, who was brought in from Blackburn Rovers in February to help save the club that he played for in his younger years.
Even though the offer that the Lilywhites made to City wasn't considered acceptable, they will be pleased that Derby are not involved in a one-horse race for Drameh.
Now that they face some competition and risk losing out on him to a division rival, the Rams may come back with a much improved offer, one that Hull could then attempt to leverage against Preston should they be willing to improve the terms that they offered.
