Despite being ahead very early on the scoreboard, the Rouge et Blanc would concede a draw in the final seconds away to TFC (1-1).

It was a frustrating draw. Scorers of a quick opening goal through Takumi Minamino, the AS Monaco players unfortunately ended up conceding a draw at the Stadium against Toulouse (1-1). 🙏

The context 📅

With four consecutive home wins in the top flight (Rennes, Auxerre, Nantes and Reims), the Rouge et Blanc approached this duel against TFC with the desire to get their first away win of 2025. It was a mission that would not be easy against the team currently placed eighth in the table, even if Les Violets had struggled in recent visits from the Principality club, who had also won the reverse fixture at the Stade Louis-II (2-0).

We now have to prove the same things and show the same strength away from home, because our statistics are not good enough away from the Stade Louis-II. Especially as two games await us in Toulouse and Angers. It will not be easy against a TFC team that is having a good season, but we are ready for these two away battles.

The XI 👥

In an attempt to bring home the three points, Adi Hütter opted for stability and lined up the same starting eleven as he had against Stade de Reims. The Kehrer-Mawissa central partnership was thus renewed, while the team’s two Brazilian full-backs also started. Finally, the Biereth-Embolo duo was also favored to lead the Côte d’Azur attack.

The scenario 🎞

The game started off with a bang for the Monegasques, with a first three-way interplay leading to an attempt for Mika Biereth (4′). The Dane then pushed for more shortly thereafter (10′), but was flagged offside. It was only a postponement, since following a high recovery by Maghnes Akliouche, he set up Takumi Minamino for the opening goal (0-1, 17′)!

Akliouche on fire, Mika-Taki part 2!

It was a third goal in four Ligue 1 matches for the Japanese international, on a second assist from his teammate after having done the same agaisnt Lille. The Rouge et Blanc were away and pushed for the second thanks to good work again from the Akliouche-Biereth duo (21′), then on a cross from number 14 for Lamine Camara (26′). The match was then more choppy, and Adi Hütter’s men returned to the locker room with this advantage.

Close to doubling the lead

It was the same after the break, with plenty of fouls in midfield, without the two teams managing to create chances. On the other hand, it took all the vigilance of Radeck Majecki  to keep out a header by Franck Magri midway throught the half. (69′).

A further response came from Biereth, but his shot went towards the side netting (70′). We then had to wait until the last moments to see Lamine Camara try his luck from afar (87′), then Wilfried Singo, who had come on, hit the post with a header (88′).

A killer blow at the last minute

Unfortunately, while they had largely dominated the match, the Monegasques were surprised by Franck Magri in added time (1-1, 91′). It even took a save from the Polish goalkeeper on a header from Zajc to hold on to a point. It was a tough blow for AS Monaco, who will have another important trip next Saturday to Angers (7 p.m.).

Key moments 🎥
