A hectic transfer deadline day at Borussia Dortmund saw the Bundesliga’s second largest club fail in their endeavors to obtain attacking-midfielder Rayan Cherki, yet succeed in sealing another vital loan deal. Swedish full-back Daniel Svensson’s loan from FC Nordsjælland was secured early on Monday.
Philipp Hinze reports that an automatic purchase clause has been built into the deal. Svensson looks to become a permanent BVB fixture once certain parameters are met. Presumably, as is often the case in European football, a minimum number of appearances should trigger the Swedish international’s full capture. Hinze offers specific figures.
Dortmund already paid a €1m loan fee to Nordsjælland as part of the loan arrangement. Hinze claims that an additional €6m-€7m shall be due to the Danish Superliga side once the clause is triggered. At his official BVB presentation earlier today, Svensson strongly suggested he wished to remain in Germany.
“After being called up for the Swedish national team [and capped once], joining a top European club like Borussia Dortmund is another great step in my career,” Svensson said. “I’m fully motivated and will do everything I can to help our team and the fans celebrate many successes.”
