Wilder looks set to be offered fresh terms in the coming weeks, which could put an end to any uncertainty over his future.
Sheffield United are preparing to offer a new contract to head coach Chris Wilder this month.
This is according to the Sheffield Star, who believes he will be offered fresh terms before the end of the January window, which could allow the Blades to strike a crucial winter agreement.
Wilder didn't exactly enjoy the best start to his return to Bramall Lane, with his United side going down with a whimper at the end of last term.
However, their summer business and the pre-season period has done wonders for them, and they are now firmly in the promotion mix.
The fact they started the season on -2 points didn't distract them - and they haven't looked back since their excellent away win at Preston North End on the opening night of the season.
It's no secret that there's still plenty of work to be done by the Blades in their quest to secure a Premier League return at the first time of asking, but they did exceptionally well during the first half of the season, with their Steel City derby win against Sheffield Wednesday perhaps their highlight of the 2024/25 campaign thus far.
Wilder has entered the final six months of his deal - and that isn't exactly ideal for a team aiming to secure promotion.
But the Sheffield Star have reported that the club's new owners are going to offer him a new contract this month.
Wilder is thought to be keen on staying put at Bramall Lane, so a deal could potentially be agreed fairly quickly, which would end all uncertainty regarding his future.
Plenty doubted Wilder before the start of this season.
But he has been able to silence those critics and guide his team to success.
Having to deal with a two-point deduction at the start of the campaign wasn't exactly ideal - but Wilder didn't let that become an excuse for a slow start.
His team were on it from day one of the season - and he deserves the opportunity to continue leading his team forward.
Deserving of his new contract, an extension could benefit the whole club, because it would help to provide more certainty. That can only be a positive in United's promotion quest.
