AC Milan find themselves in a difficult position, considering they are lagging behind in the Serie A rankings. With the Scudetto off the table, the Champions League is a must.

It has been a season of more downs than ups for Milan, and Sunday’s win against Parma was a fantastic summary of things so far. Despite getting the win in the end, which in the context of a season, maybe European qualification, for too much of the time, the Rossoneri were lacklustre, which again can be translated to the season as a whole.

Of course, the Parma game had moments of brilliance, and in the end, the Diavolo got what they needed. However, there were far too many things in the game that caused frustration. Once again, a familiar story.

Today, Paolo Di Canio slated Milan and the players for the game, and their season so far, stating the club are on a downward path, and Foot Italia have relayed his words.

“There’s no sense of ethics and work. These things don’t happen at Inter and Napoli. Is there no ban on going out? Oh, we’re talking about Milan, not some small-time club. A team with history, honour, and respect.

“We’re getting used to decadence. Everyone does it, they’re modern. It’s not like that, it doesn’t change the judgment on work ethic. Milan players go out. Inter players certainly don’t, because they’ve become serious. See if Napoli players go out now.

“How can any coach accept such a thing? Milan won against Como, and the next day they celebrated Emerson Royal’s birthday, two days before the Juventus match, with guests arriving at midnight, so I don’t think they went to bed early.

“Apart from the good taste of how they were dressed… Then two days before a decisive match, you go to Lazza’s concert? It’s serious, it means having no sense of respect, which should exist even in Serie C and Serie D. There’s a lack of work ethic and discipline, a sense of decency.”
