The banner that appeared in Olimpico’s Curva Sud during the match between Roma and Monza quickly went viral on social media and is now at the center of an investigation by the Digos.

The General Investigations and Special Operations Division, led by Antonio Bocelli, are preparing an initial report to send to the prosecutor’s office, considering the message’s neo-fascist origins evident.

The text displayed contains a quote from Er Cammerata, a song by the band Innato senso di allergia, known for its affinities with far-right circles.

The font used in the banner can also be traced back to symbols dear to these circles.

According to La Repubblica, the investigations are focusing on the Gruppo Roma, a group composed largely of former far-right, CasaPound militants, already the subject of attention by the authorities.

Recently, two of its members were given a ban for displaying Roman salutes at Acca Larentia, as part of a measure that involved 15 people. The episode is part of a broader context regarding the reorganization of the Curva Sud.

Gruppo Roma, once central to the management of the choreography, had withdrawn at the beginning of the season, leaving room for Insurrezione and the Boys, formations historically linked to the far right, and Gruppo Quadraro, which took over after the decline of the Fedayn, involved in the controversial affair of the theft of the banner by the fans of Red Star.

The display of the message during the match could now lead to new measures, including the possible issuing of further DASPOs, while the images from the surveillance cameras of the Olympic stadium are already being examined by the police.
