Barcelona Atlètic head coach Albert Sánchez has provided an insight into his decision not to make use of the talents of star performer Unai Hernández in the club’s most recent outing.
Midfielder Unai, for his part, has seen his name dominate the headlines in Catalunya’s capital over recent days.
This comes with the midfielder, widely considered one of the standout talents on Barcelona’s books, seemingly inching towards a move to Saudi Arabia.
Amid another stellar season to date, Unai has been earmarked by Al-Ittihad as a leading winter transfer target.
It nevertheless came as something of a surprise, though, when the 20-year-old was completely omitted from Barca Atlètic’s squad to face Ourense on Saturday.
Speaking to the media in the game’s aftermath, the subject of as much was in turn put to the aforementioned Albert Sánchez.
And the tactician pulled no punches with his response, explaining:
“Unai Hernández didn’t play today? Unai is a player whose mind is not here right now, so he’s a player that won’t benefit me.”
