Manchester United are poised to bid farewell to several players deemed surplus to requirements this summer.

The likes of on-loan stars Antony, Marcus Rashford and Jadon Sancho are likely to be sold upon the culmination of their loan spells.

Real Betis are desperate to retain Antony for the 2025/2026 term, with the Spaniards seemingly conceding they’d be unable to fork out any potential price tag United set.

Aston Villa have the option to make Rashford’s move a permanent one for £40 million at the end of June, although it’s thought he could pursue a transfer abroad to ply his trade in a new environment.

As for Sancho, reports have claimed Chelsea plan to bypass their £25m obligation clause by paying a £5m penalty to the Red Devils. The struggling winger will then have no choice but to return to Old Trafford while INEOS chiefs try to find a suitor for him.

United preparing for free agent outgoings

Elsewhere, Christian Eriksen, Victor Lindelof and Jonny Evans will all be departing as free agents next month. The senior trio are overseeing their final fixtures in red ahead of their terms expiring, so they will be hoping it ends on a positive note with a Europa League triumph next Wednesday.

Tom Heaton is also in the final month of his contract as things stand, though that could all be about to change in the coming weeks.

United are ready to offer the veteran shot-stopper a one-year deal to keep him around Carrington, as they are ‘delighted’ with the influence he has on younger players in the squad.

Fabrizio Romano confirmed last week that the club had ‘decided to open talks’ with Heaton to stay as Ruben Amorim’s third-choice goalkeeper until June 2026.

Heaton has only played three times in total throughout his second United stint, but his recent inactivity didn’t stop Sean Dyche from singling the 39-year-old out for praise in the latest Stick to Football episode.

“Really, really good ‘keeper. Fantastic,” said Dyche of Heaton.
