Speaking exclusively with FLW, David Prutton has been discussing the future Bournemouth's Max Aarons amid interest from Leeds and Sheffield United.

It was recently revealed that Leeds and Sheffield United are among a host of clubs interested in Bournemouth full-back Max Aarons.

The 25-year-old has spent the second half of this season on loan with Spanish side Valencia, a spell that hasn’t proven fruitful, making just two La Liga appearances.

After coming through the ranks at Carrow Road, Aarons featured over 200 times for Norwich City, primarily under Leeds United’s current boss, Daniel Farke.

However, since moving to the Cherries in 2023, game-time has been limited for the defender, and it looks like his time at the Vitality Stadium will come to an end this summer.

Football Espana recently revealed that Leeds and Sheffield United are two clubs interested in securing Aarons’ signature.

They add that a loan move is still a possibility, but if Bournemouth sell Aarons they would try to generate a fee of around €12m (approx £10.1m).

Speaking exclusively to Football League World, Sky Sports’ David Prutton talked up the full-back’s capabilities and pointed out where he thinks Aarons would be best suited back in the English game.

“Last time he was seen on English shores, he was a very capable full-back,” stated Prutton.

“He had the ability to get forward, and the athleticism that he's got would fit a dynamic Chris Wilder Sheffield United side, wouldn't it?

“The experience of Spanish football whilst on loan from the Premier League could help him as well. I think you'd have to wait and see which division Sheffield United could be in at the start of next season.

“But I still think he's got plenty to prove and has plenty of unfinished business with regards to how he's perceived in English football. From what I hear, he’s a good kid, a good member of the team, and you get the feeling he would thrive under Chris Wilder."

Aarons still has time on his side to turn things around

It seems almost unfathomable when discussing Aarons’ current situation, as just a few years ago he was one of England’s leading prospects in the full-back department.

His time at Bournemouth coincided with the Cherries’ rise up the Premier League into a team fighting for the European places, which has ultimately left him in the lurch.

Coupled with a disastrous spell in Spain, Aarons will surely be in search of a total reset this summer in an attempt to get his career back on track.

A move to Leeds would see him reunite with Farke, the coach he enjoyed his best football under whilst at Norwich. Therefore, it could be argued that the Whites have an automatic march on Sheffield United.

However, as Prutton alluded to, Chris Wilder’s system may suit Aarons better and could end up being a more beneficial move for his career.

At just 25 years of age, the defender still has plenty of time to turn things around, and hopefully a change of scenery may provide the perfect remedy next term.
