Vitor Roque has officially become a Palmeiras player after the Brazilian club finalised an agreement with Barcelona for his transfer last week.

The deal was closed for a fixed fee of €25.5 million, with an additional €5 million in potential add-ons. Palmeiras now hold 80% of his rights, making it one of the most significant transfers in South American football.

Conversation with Endrick

Before completing his move to the Sao Paulo-based club, Roque had a conversation with Real Madrid’s young star, Endrick. The two players have a strong bond, having played together in Brazil’s youth teams.

Endrick, who came through Palmeiras’ academy before securing a move to Madrid, shared words of encouragement with Roque.

The new Palmeiras signing expressed his admiration for Endrick’s journey and acknowledged the historical significance of joining the same club where his friend made a name for himself.

“I spoke to Endrick and he wished me good luck. He’s a guy I really support.

“We only played against each other and now to be here at Palmeiras, where he made so much history, is a source of great joy for me,” said Roque as quoted by Mundo Deportivo.

The happy ending

Roque’s future had been a topic of discussion for weeks, with Spanish tabloids closely following his situation.

At the time, he was on loan at Real Betis, and despite growing links with Palmeiras, he initially preferred to finish the season in Spain before making a decision.

However, everything changed in January when his agent, Andre Cury, presented him with a formal offer from the Brazilian giants.

At first, Roque was uncertain about returning to the Brasileirao just a year after leaving Athletico Paranaense.

Having worked hard to establish himself in European football, the idea of returning so soon was not an easy decision.

But Palmeiras showed determination, making it clear that he would not just be another signing but a key player in their ambitious project, which eventually paid off for everyone involved.
