For a brief period prior to his move to Santos, Neymar was linked with a potential return to Barcelona. However, it was later revealed that the club never entertained the idea of re-signing the forward.

However, Neymar, for his part, remains keen on the idea of returning to Barcelona, perhaps even in the coming summer.

Neymar’s plan to rejoin Barcelona

In a recent update provided by Helena Condis, it appears Neymar has a plan to return to his beloved Barcelona next summer.

Condis reports that Neymar will look to perform well at Santos between now and the coming summer, so that he can prove himself capable of still performing at the highest level of football.

If the former PSG superstar impresses onlookers by producing stellar performances, he will look to push for a move to Catalonia in the summer.

Neymar, in that case, would be willing to significantly lower his salary so that it is easier for Barça to accommodate him into their squad without having to break the bank.

In the past, Barcelona have been unable to sign Neymar due to his exorbitant wages. But this time around, the player is willing to make adjustments.

A potential move to Barcelona would be a part of Neymar’s bigger plan of preparing for the upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup in the United States.

Given Brazil’s recent performances at the World Cup, many are banking on Neymar to once again perform at the highest stage despite his obvious decline.
