Brendan Rodgers restored his first-team stars this afternoon against St Mirren in the final league game of another exquisite domestic campaign. Having won the Premiership crown a couple of weeks ago, Celtic officially lifted their 55th silverware in front of the home crowd. A win would have been the icing on the cake, however, they only settled for a 1-1 draw, thanks to James Forrest’s last-gasp equaliser.

Below are the Celtic players rated in their 1-1 draw against St Mirren.

Could have done little to stop Jonah Ayunga from finding the target. Made some routine saves, with little attacking threat from the visitors. Should focus now on next weekend’s Scottish Cup final against Aberdeen at Hampden Park.

Alistair Johnston: 8

Was relentless down the right with marauding runs, crosses and link-up play. Set it up for Forrest for the dramatic late goal, which salvaged a result before lifting the title.

Cameron Carter-Vickers: 7.5

Returned to action following a brief injury layoff. Orchestrated the build-ups from the back with his passing accuracy and distribution. Was spot on with his tackles, dominated the duels and made timely clearances and interceptions.

Liam Scales: 6.5

His headed clearance was below par, which led to Ayunga’s early second-half goal. Did not have much trouble otherwise, as the Buddies were mostly confined to defensive duties throughout the game.

Greg Taylor: 7

Potentially his last game in Celtic colours, as the wantaway left-back decided not to extend his Parkhead contract beyond this summer. But he was thoroughly professional down the left, both in defence and the attacking third.

Callum McGregor: 6.5

Kept things under control deep down the midfield. Looked a bit lethargic at times, particularly during the 50-50 duels and recoveries.

Arne Engels: 7

Played a few dangerous crosses into the box, tested Zachary Hemming a few times, and played some smart one-twos in the middle of the park. His deliveries lacked the end product on most occasions, and was eventually taken off for Jeffrey Schlupp late in the match.

Paulo Bernardo: 6

Failed to make things work as a ‘number 8’. Did not offer much with his box-to-box movements and was often found losing the duels in the centre of the pitch. Made way for Luke McCowan soon after Ayunga’s goal.

Nicolas Kuhn: 6.5

Had his moments down the right with his dribbles, crosses and cut-insides. Was subbed off for James Forrest early into the second half, as the German wideman lacked the variation high up the pitch.

Daizen Maeda: 7

The Scottish Premiership ‘Player of the Year’ had an underwhelming afternoon as he wasted a clear-cut goal-scoring opportunity from a yard out. Could not create many chances from the left before being taken off for Johnny Kenny in the second half.

Adam Idah: 6.5

Engaged in a few duels, and tried to make a difference upfront with his movements. Looked isolated with limited touches throughout the first half and was subbed off for Yang Hyun-jun minutes after the break.

Celtic Subs vs St Mirren

James Forrest: 8.5

Had to wait until the last second to score for a scintillating sixteenth successive season. Looked like a man on a mission since coming on as he kept on whipping in crosses, making goal-bound attempts and dribbling past the opponents before finding the net moments before the final whistle.

Yang Hyun-jun: 7.5

Injected pace and flair in attack as his acrobatic effort almost found them an equaliser minutes before Forrest’s goal.

Luke McCowan: 7

Was more aggressive and purposeful than Bernardo as the ex-Dundee ace exhibited his creative spark in and around the attacking third.

Johnny Kenny: 7

Forced Hemming to make back-to-back late in the contest.

Jeffrey Schlupp: 6.5
