After high-scoring games in 2025 so far, Barcelona face a stiff challenge this weekend as they take on Getafe in La Liga.
The clash is set to kick off on Saturday night at Coliseum Alfonso Perez, a stadium known to be one of the most ruthless grounds in La Liga and the most difficult to score at.
Barcelona themselves enter the game with a poor record at the venue in recent years and the onus will be on Hansi Flick to turn the team’s fortunes around.
Barcelona’s last goal against Getafe at the Coliseum dates back to September 28 2019 when Luis Suarez and Junior Firpo scored in a 2-0 win for Ernesto Valverde’s time.
At that point, only Frenkie de Jong, Ansu Fati and Marc-Andre ter Stegen were a part of the squad who continue to be at the club today.

When Barcelona travelled to take on Getafe in October 2020, the hosts pulled off a shock 1-0 win and handed Barcelona a blow in their title chances. Since then, all three meetings have ended in draws.
Barcelona’s last two managers both failed to record a win at the venue, with Ronald Koeman falling to a defeat in his only game there and Xavi succumbing to three draws in as many appearances.
Now under Hansi Flick, Barcelona enter the game as one of Europe’s most deadly attacking sides. However, it will not be easy given Getafe’s low block and relentless patience in defence.
The last time the two teams met earlier this season, Barcelona took home a narrow 1-0 win with a goal from Robert Lewandowski and it is clear that the challenge will be difficult tomorrow.
Flick, however, showed confidence in his press conference ahead of the game and reiterated that his team had a plan in mind.
“What we know from the past is that it’s very difficult to score goals. We have talked about it with the team and we hope to achieve it,” he said.
