Fourth time needs to be the charm for Leicester

There have been three matches between Leicester and Manchester United in all competitions. Combined, the Foxes have lost all of them by a score of 10-3. Their most recent FA Cup encounter, however, nearly ended in a City result.

LCFC fans will recall how Ruud van Nistelrooy denounced the late Harry Maguire header as "offside time." Extra time isn't a possibility for Sunday's Premier League fixture. If the Foxes put up an equal amount of fight as they did during the Fourth Round, they would be able to manage a point.

Getting anything from the remaining opportunities becomes increasingly vital. Desperation needs to set in. City may have already sealed their fate, but against ManU, they'll see their best chance for a while. RvN will take his men to the Etihad next, followed by meetings with Newcastle, Brighton, and Liverpool.

Against a Ruben Amorim side that is often inconsistent, Leicester needs to build on the season series against their upcoming opponent with something tangible to show for their efforts. Against Chelsea, granted, there was something of a morale victory. Their table position doesn't allow for that to be much of a reason to celebrate, however.

Critical moment for Leicester

As is, City will need help from the higher EPL teams against the current bottom dwellers. Heading into the end of March, there will be less than 10 Prem fixtures left. Anything can happen still. Past years, after all, have seen incredible, seismic movements throughout the league late on.

Even if one of Wolves or Ipswich were to fall off, the Foxes will need to be ready to take advantage. Van Nistelrooy is often saying the right things. He, furthermore, appears to have found something of a workable formula.

Considering the immediate upcoming schedule and how LCFC has played, fans will hope this back-five approach works and at least keeps their team in games. From two three-goal defeats to a controversial single-score defeat, Leicester has to progress against Man Utd with a draw on Sunday.
