L’Équipe understand that a general meeting between the French Football Federation, Ligue 1 and Ligue 2 clubs as well as the French Football League and French football’s financial regulator, the DNCG, has been set on the 3rd March with the goal of finding a solution to the ongoing TV rights crisis in French football.American firm CVC Capital are also set to attend the meeting. The investment fund were behind the creation of LFP’s commercial company following an investment of around €1.5 billion in 2022. At the end of November, the anti-corruption association AC!! filed a complaint to the National Financial Prosecutor’s Office against LFP media, to investigate the legality of its creation in 2022 and the subsequent deal it made with CVC. According to L’Équipe, this was filed due to a suspicion of “embezzlement of public funds.” The row between Ligue 1’s main broadcaster DAZN and the Ligue de Football Professionnel has escalated further with DAZN demanding €573m from Ligue 1’s governing body, as reported earlier today by RMC Sport.Earlier this month that Ligue 1’s main broadcaster DAZN reportedly only paid half of the domestic TV rights money Ligue 1 clubs were owed this month. DAZN have grown tired of LFP’s perceived lack of results in the fight against piracy. What’s more, the British broadcaster are reportedly angry at Ligue 1 clubs for their limited help in giving the broadcaster editorial content. In consequence, DAZN only paid €35m of TV rights money to Ligue 1 clubs this February when €70m were expected. The outlet adds that the other €35m have been frozen by DAZN.

LFP have rejected DAZN’s allegations and have filed a court summons for the broadcaster to pay its TV rights money share in full, according to AFP.GFFN | Freddie Aston
