Werder Bremen news and publication site Deich Stube has cast light on the latest injuries and fitness concerns in Ole Werner’s squad. A quartet of players are a doubt for Sunday’s fixture against TSG Hoffenheim.
Die Werderaner trained earlier today, and four key names were absent for the entirety of the session. Jens Stage continues to suffer from adductor problems while fellow midfielder Senne Lynen missed out due to workload management.
Julian Malatini didn’t appear at any stage as the Argentinean continues to complete an individual program as he recovers from muscular problems. Finally, fleet-footed full-back Felix Agu who just returned from a knee injury, was struck down with an infection.
Bremen’s Head of Professional Football, Peter Niemeyer, added that Keke Topp won’t return to action until the end of February at the earliest.
There are some positives for Gruen-Weiss fans as Niemeyer was quoted saying both Romano Schmid and Leonardo Bittencourt “should be available on Sunday”. Justin Njinmah who sustained an ankle knock against Bayern may also be fit for Matchday 22.
The injury front isn’t exactly rosy for TSG Hoffenheim either ahead of the weekend. Kicker have reported that Adam Hlozek will miss the trip to the Weserstadion. With the nature of the injury unclear, the Czechia international may even be out for several weeks.
Head coach Christian Ilzer receives the news at the worst possible time as the Sinsheim based club enter another period of uncertainty after their latest 4-0 defeat to 1.FC Union Berlin.
Hoffenheim’s second-top scorer (6) in the Bundesliga, who arrived in the summer for €18million from Bayer Leverkusen, joins a lengthy injury list including Ihlas Bebou, Ozan Kabak, Grischa Proemel, Valentin Gendrey and Anton Stach.
