AC Milan head coach Paulo Fonseca seems to have settled on the team that he will name for tonight’s game against Roma at San Siro.
Milan will bring the calendar year to a close when they welcome the Giallorossi, hoping to give a sold out home crowd something to celebrate after a rollercoaster 2024.
Fonseca admitted in his pre-match press conference that the pressure is on to generate results and performances, otherwise the season could slip into a deep crisis.
Milan will be without a number of players for this game due to injury. Christian Pulisic, Rafael Leao, Yunus Musah, Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Noah Okafor, Luka Jovic and Alessandro Florenzi will all miss out as they recover from injuries.
According to La Gazzetta dello Sport (seen below), Fonseca will name a back four of Emerson Royal, Matteo Gabbia, Malick Thiaw and Theo Hernandez in front of the goalkeeper Mike Maignan.
The midfield pairing of Filippo Terracciano and Youssouf Fofana should remain after being used against Verona, with Tijjani Reijnders playing in a more advanced role.
The return of Theo and the other absences mean that Alex Jimenez will be pushed up to play as the left winger, with Samuel Chukwueze on the other wing and Alvaro Morata up front.
Probable Milan XI (4-2-3-1): Maignan; Emerson Royal, Gabbia, Thiaw, Theo; Fofana, Terracciano; Chukwueze, Reijnders, Jimenez; Morata.
Probable Roma XI (3-4-2-1): Svilar; Mancini, Hummels, Ndicka; Saelemaekers, Kone, Paredes, Angelino; Dybala, El Shaarawy; Dovbyk.
