AC Milan are giving serious thought to the idea of bringing Max Allegri back to the club and reuniting him with Fabio Paratici, a report claims.

As La Gazzetta dello Sport (seen below) reports this morning, Allegri and Paratici won together with Juventus and next season they could do it at Milan. The pair have been through a lot together since they celebrated five Scudetti, four Supercoppa Italiana titles and two Coppa Italia wins.

Allegri added another cup last May, when Paratici had already left the Old Lady, after adding to his tally with another league title under Maurizio Sarri and two more Coppa Italias under Andrea Pirlo. Now they could work alongside each other again.

Guarantee

The names of Paratici and Allegri are on the notebook of the CEO Giorgio Furlani. The decisions at Milan will remain collective, but the last word also on the sporting area from now on will be that of Furlani.

It is he, not by chance, who is carrying forward the casting for the role of sporting director. In the perspective of the Italianisation of Milan, Paratici is a profile that the former manager of the Elliott Management fund likes a lot.

Why? He is admired because of his deep knowledge of the market, because he knows how to build winning squads and because he has enriched his experience working with Tottenham. Fabio wants to get back into the game and doing it in a top club like Milan stimulates him a lot.

He knows that the goal of the Diavolo is to sew the second star on their chest, and he has a tremendous desire to return to winning.

To the Max

And here Allegri comes into play. The relationship between Fabio and Max had cooled in 2019, when the Livorno native had said goodbye to Juve. Andrea Agnelli had fired him, on the advice of Nedved and Paratici himself.

The goal was to go in search of more spectacular football with Sarri and then with Pirlo. As a result of the decision and how it ended after that Coppa Italia final, initial coldness between the two was inevitable.

Even if they did not work together again in 2021 – when Paratici said goodbye to the Old Lady after 11 years to begin his adventure at Tottenham and Allegri took over at Juve again – the relationship has mended.

It was London that brought them closer together because they found themselves watching Premier League matches several times.

Allegri was across the Channel to study English and because he loves the British capital; Paratici because, despite the suspension, he keeps up to date by watching as many games as he can live and on TV.

Now faced with the prospect of having to rebuild a winning Milan, he would have few doubts about which Italian coach to focus on. Allegri is the (active) coach with the most trophies and has shown that he can ‘get by’ in Europe too, leading Juve to two Champions League finals.

It is clear, however, that Max does not have Paratici as his only sponsor: Furlani, Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Geoffrey Moncada also respect him. The Swede had something to say about some tactical decisions during their time together at Milan, but the respect for the professional has remained.

A strong Milan

There is no other coach of Allegri’s value on the market at the moment and, after last summer’s gamble on Fonseca, this time to rebuild the team Gerry Cardinale and his men want a coach they can count on with their eyes closed.

One who gives guarantees. Who knows Serie A, but above all how to lift the Scudetto. It seems like the perfect identikit of Allegri, who said no to a rich offer from Saudi Arabia and who for now has not received offers from abroad capable of making him waver.

He would like to stay in Italy and considers Milan a strong team, one able to fight for the title with a few targeted purchases. Let’s say three or four including a left-back, a playmaker and a striker. Paratici would think of those, who in recent months has filled many notebooks with interesting names.

Allegri still has a house in the Lombardy capital where he won, with the Diavolo, the first Scudetto of his career. For years, Paratici has met with managers and agents in a hotel in the centre, very close to the historic headquarters of Milan on Via Turati.

Milan would give both of them the opportunity to take revenge on Juve. Allegri left Juve in a tumultuous manner last spring, immediately after lifting the Coppa, and Fabio had said goodbye to Juve before the case related to capital gains.
