Round 25 of the Serie A season ends on Monday with Genoa’s match against Venezia at Stadio Luigi Ferraris. The home side start the weekend down in 12th, just seven points better than Parma in the relegation zone. Venezia arrive second from the bottom of the league, five points from safety.
Monday ranks as a must-win for both The Griffin and The Winged Lions, but which side will collect a vital three points to ease their worries? Frank Monkhouse previews the action in Liguria on behalf of the FIRST.com betting site where you can check out all this weekend’s football previews, predictions and find the best bookies and betting odds.
Genoa prepare for their latest league test on a poor run of form. The locals are winless in their two games this month, following a 2-1 defeat away to Fiorentina with a 1-1 draw in Torino less than a week ago.
Going back further doesn’t give Genoa fans more reason to be confident, with Patrick Vieira’s men taking just seven of the last 18 points. Improvement and consistency are crucial if Genoa are to climb to the safety of midtable.
After 24 games of the league season, Venezia have only Monza beneath them in the pecking order. The visitors’ stats show they’ve won just three of their previous starts, drawn seven, and lost 14. They’ve scored 22 goals but conceded 39, which explains their current predicament.
Stuck on an extended winless run, Eusebio Di Francesco’s strugglers have lost three and drawn three of their last six, including back-to-back defeats. They sunk 3-2 away to Udinese on the opening day of the month and followed that with a 1-0 home defeat when Roma came calling last Sunday.

With a tight match expected on Monday evening, traders working at major sportsbooks have had their say, offering fans the chance to make predictions and place bets on Genoa vs Venezia. At the time of writing the odds are the following:
The home team are favourites to win and collect a welcome three points, but if they are to live up to expectations, Genoa must score a first-ever victory over their rivals. The head-to-head starts show the teams have met only three times in the past, with two games ending in a draw and Venezia banking the other.
The spare came earlier this season at Pier Luigi Penzo when Venezia bagged a 2-0 win thanks to goals from Gianluca Busio and Joel Pohjanpalo, both in the second half. Will the underdogs upset the odds to remain unbeaten against Genoa, or can the locals finally beat Venezia to get off the mark?
With very little between the two teams and both performing under the threat of relegation, a tense 90 minutes awaits. Armchair fans and bettors can avoid picking sides by following the stats and shooting for value in the specials.
Betting on under 2.5 goals would’ve landed you a winner in each of the previous three games involving these teams. It was also the correct approach when Genoa drew away to Torino last weekend.
Our top tip is to bet on under 2.5 goals in Genoa vs Venezia. You can check out all this weekend’s football previews, predictions, betting odds, and promotions on the FIRST.com betting site.
