Roma director Florent Ghisolfi insists they are ‘happy’ with the mid-season transfer strategy, but shrugs off questions about Carlo Ancelotti in the running for their next coach. ‘We are working on it.’
The Coppa Italia quarter-final with Milan kicked off at San Siro at 20.00 GMT.
The winner must be decided on the night and if the score is level after 90 minutes, they go directly to a penalty shoot-out, without the need for extra time.
The victors go on to face either Inter or Lazio in the two-legged semi-final.

“The Coppa Italia is very important, especially as we are lagging behind in Serie A and this tournament has an important role in the Roma tradition. This is an important match against a great team and we are ready,” Ghisolfi told Sport Mediaset.
Roma were very busy in the final 24 hours of the transfer window and all those players are on the bench at San Siro this evening, specifically Lucas Gourna-Douath, Victor Nelsson and Anass Salah-Eddine.
“I am happy, we worked in synergy with the coach and my staff. It was not easy with the financial parameters that we had, but we had five players leave and brought five in, so we achieved our primary objectives. We are happy and working to prepare for the future.”
That is up in the air, because Claudio Ranieri came out of retirement to help Roma with the express intention of taking on a directorial role next season, so the club needs to find another coach.
“We are working on it, but I am interested only in the present right now and Mister Ranieri is doing well. We have three tournaments, we are hungry and we are ready,” assured Ghisolfi.
The director was asked specifically about the reports Roma could bring in Ancelotti from Real Madrid.
“Ranieri is the Roma coach today,” was his only response.
