Artem Dovbyk is being linked with a surprise return to the Spanish La Liga.
According to today’s edition of Sport, Artem Dovbyk could return to Girona.
Despite having scored 16 goals in his first season with Roma, the Ukrainian striker has not fully convinced the Giallorossi club, which is considering leaving after just one year.
A surprising decision, but one that would respond to the need of the club to rebalance the accounts after an investment that, it seems, has not yielded the desired results.
The possible transfer has attracted the interest of several clubs, but it is Girona – Dovbyk’s former team – that has shown the most concreteness.
The striker has left an excellent memory in Montilivi, thanks to his goals and ability to lead the attack, decisive elements for the club’s historic season.
Girona head coach Míchel is said to be ready to welcome him back, convinced that he can bring him back to the best levels.
The return, however, is not without obstacles.
Roma, in fact, aims to recover a good part of the investment made and has set an economic valuation that is currently considered out of reach for Girona.
Curiously, Dovbyk scored more goals in his first season than Edin Dzeko did in his debut in Giallorossi. The Bosnian was also initially questioned, only to then become a mainstay of the club from the second year onwards. Two similar paths, but with outcomes that – at the moment – seem to be taking opposite directions.
