Union Berlin continued to push as Benedict Hollerbach's effort went high and wide in the 26th minute.

Next, two efforts from Amoura and Patrick Wimmer for Wolfsburg were saved as they were unable to open the scoring.

Shortly before the break, VAR overturned the referee's decision to award a penalty for Union Berlin as a scuffle in the box was not deemed to be penalty worthy.

After the half time break, András Schäfer came close to scoring but his shot was deflected wide off his own player as the game continued level.

During the 63rd minute, Benedict Hollerbach netted the opening goal as he prodded it past Wolfsburg keeper Grabara following a long throw.

In the 78th minute, Josip Juranović's attempted knuckleball went wrong and flew into the stands.

In added time, Wolfsburg tried to apply pressure to finish the game but despite multiple attempts from Patrick Wimmer the game ended in the host's favour.

This win meant Union Berlin were left eleven points clear of the drop zone and can now somewhat comfortably see out the season without major fears of relegation.
