Alex Pritchard has had a mixed time of things since leaving Birmingham City for Sivasspor in the summer.

It was a summer of change at Birmingham City following their relegation to League One, with Chris Davies named as the new head coach.

As we know, a remarkable spending spree by third-tier standards followed, as Blues’ ambitious US owners made sure Davies had the tools to win promotion in his first season in charge.

Pleasingly for the club, they are on course to not only win the title, but they could well break the points record at this level.

However, despite the eye-catching arrivals, there were some departures, with Alex Pritchard one of the senior figures to leave St. Andrew’s after relegation from the Championship.

The attacking midfielder made the decision to join Sivasspor, after the Turkish side agreed an undisclosed fee with Blues for the ex-Sunderland man.

At 31, Pritchard understandably felt that he didn’t want to play in League One, and this was an opportunity to play in a top-flight league - and it was the first time he had ventured outside of England in his career.

After finishing seventh last season in the Turkish Super Lig, Pritchard and Sivasspor would’ve had high hopes going into the current campaign, but it hasn’t really gone to plan.

With 27 games played, the Braves find themselves in the relegation zone, with four clubs set to drop out of the top flight of Turkish football this season.

As it stands, they are three points from safety, so it’s a situation that can be rectified, and Pritchard and his team-mates will be battling to stay up.

From Pritchard’s perspective, it has been a mixed season, as he has made 16 appearances in the league, with four of those coming from the bench.

Whilst he is yet to find the net, Pritchard has contributed four assists, but he will no doubt want to do more in the final weeks as they battle to stay up. However, it won’t be easy, as Sivasspor have some difficult fixtures coming up, including games against the Istanbul giants Galatasaray and Fenerbahçe.

He isn’t a guaranteed regular in the XI though, with Pritchard’s last league outing coming in mid-February, although he has been impacted by injury as well.

With his contract expiring in 2026, it remains to be seen what the future holds for Pritchard, and it will no doubt be influenced by whether Sivasspor can survive this season.
