Barcelona are in a delicate financial state. With the issues they have had surrounding the registration of players, as well as the fact they are yet to move back into the Camp Nou following it’s expensive renovation works, the club needs all the money they can get.
The Champions League has long been one of the best sources of income for Spanish clubs, and this season has been no different.
As per Marca, Barcelona are set to recieve a generous windfall for their qualification to the quarter finals of Europe’s premier club competition, alongside their plentiful winnings for their great performances during the league phase.
Their win in the last 16 tie against Benfica has seen them earn €12.5 million, not bad for just two matches’ work.
In addition, the club has earned €67 million for their performances thus far, the most in this season’s competition following Liverpool’s elimination at the hands of PSG.
If Barcelona were to go the distance and win this year’s edition of the Champions League, they would earn an additional €40 million, bringing their total earnings to €107 million.
They still have a long way to go for that to be the case, however.
