Hamer signed for the Blades from Coventry City in 2023 for a reported fee of around £15 million. He has been one of the Blades' key men in the last two seasons, and his impressive top-flight form last term saw Leeds register their interest in his services ahead of this campaign.

The Whites reportedly saw an offer of around £13m duly rejected by United as the August transfer deadline edged ever closer, and he remained at Bramall Lane to help Wilder's men in their charge for promotion this season.

Hamer has continued to be a standout in the second-tier, despite the Blades eventually missing out on a top two spot in recent weeks, with nine goals and seven assists in 40 league appearances up to now.

His strong Championship form all year long saw him named as the division's Player of the Season last weekend.

Now, Everton have registered their interest in his services, with TEAMtalk reporting that he is on their shortlist ahead of the summer window. The 27-year-old will likely leave United if they remain in the Championship, and will surely be in line for a wage hike if he makes the step-up to the top-flight with the Toffees soon.

Hamer signed a four-year deal at Bramall Lane in 2023, meaning he is contracted to the club until 2027, and the length of his deal has given the club great leverage in transfer negotiations so far, which is likely to continue into the coming months regardless of their league status.

According to estimates from football finance site Capology, Hamer currently earns £30,000 per week at Sheffield United, which works out at an overall salary of £1.56 million per year.

That weekly wage makes him the club's joint-second-highest paid permanent player as it stands, with striker Rhian Brewster the only full-time Blades man that earns a better wage than the Dutchman, on an estimated £35,000 each week. Loanees Hamza Choudhury and Ben Brereton-Diaz each also earn an estimated £35,000 weekly wage.

Capology states that Hamer's £30,000 wage means he takes home the exact same weekly earnings as Anel Ahmedhodzic, Tom Davies, Vinicius Souza and loanee Rob Holding.

Everton have enjoyed an impressive revival under David Moyes in the second half of the Premier League season. Their top-flight status is safe for another campaign, and they could look to bring Hamer in this summer to bolster their midfield ranks for 2025/26.

In terms of a potential weekly wage that the 27-year-old could earn with the Toffees, it is clear to see that an increase would be in order, considering their estimated £1,393,500 spend on player wages each week compared to the Blades' estimated £522,500.

At Everton, the players that currently earn the same £30,000 weekly wage Hamer is on at United are those that have had less of an impact on Moyes' side throughout the campaign, such as back-up goalkeeper Asmir Begovic, reserve striker Youssef Chermiti, and versatile midfielder James Garner.

With that said, it is clear to see that he would be line for a wage hike if he joins this summer ahead of their move to the new Everton Stadium, as he surely would be an important player and regular starter for the Toffees going forward.

Hamer could expect to earn a wage close to that of ex-Blades man Iliman Ndiaye, who is on an estimated £45,000-a-week at the club right now, following an impressive debut campaign after his summer move from Marseille.

The Senegalese international attacking midfielder spent two years as a regular starter at Bramall Lane in the Championship before he joined the French side in 2023.

Just one year followed in Ligue 1 as he moved to Everton last year, and it is fair to say that Hamer could expect to have a similar impact to him in midfield if he was to join this summer.

Ndiaye had played regularly in the Championship and spent time playing in a top-flight league prior to his Merseyside move, which draws a lot of paralells to that of Hamer's career path up to this point, so the Dutchman may well demand a weekly wage close to that of his estimated £45,000.
