Ibrahimovic intervention calmed Conceicao-Calabria row at Milan | OneFootball

According to reports, Zlatan Ibrahimovic personally intervened to smooth things over between Milan coach Sergio Conceicao, captain Davide Calabria and manage the media fallout from their ugly clash.

The incident occurred after the final whistle of today’s 3-2 comeback victory over Parma at San Siro.

During the celebrations, Calabria said something that infuriated Conceicao, who had to be held back from physically confronting the player.

Sky Sport Italia claim that special advisor Ibrahimovic was instrumental in resolving the issue, going straight to the locker room after the game.

He sat both down to discuss it with them, then ordered Calabria to speak to the media first in order to cut short any suggestions of a nasty row that could escalate.

Ibrahimovic also spoke with Conceicao for a good 30 minutes alone in the locker room, which is why the coach was so late to his post-match press conference.

As a former player and now a director working with club owners RedBird, there have been questions over exactly what Ibrahimovic’s role within Milan really is now.

Meanwhile, the tension continues to reverberate between the fans and club, because the ultras in the Curva Sud sat in total silence throughout the game with Parma, having been urged not to repeatedly insult and call for owner Gerry Cardinale to leave.
