Although they were not able to add any piece of silverware to their cabinet in the last season, FC Barcelona still retain full confidence in their squad. This confidence is quite visible from how the Blaugranes have focused on ensuring the renewals of some of the most important of their players.
Still, the Catalans will try to bring some reinforcements to their squad in the next summer transfer window, and they were helped in this regard by their return to the 1:1 status and the increase of €37 million to their wage bill in the recent update announced by La Liga.
In this context, one of the players that Barcelona have been linked with is the Liverpool winger Luis Diaz, who is reportedly the favourite candidate of the Blaugranes to reinforce their attack. According to SPORT, the increase in the wage bill will provide enough room for the Catalans to incorporate the Colombian forward.
Diaz has a contract with Liverpool till 2027, and he is quite far from reaching an agreement with the Merseyside club for a renewal. Furthermore, he is not a key player for Arne Slot, and these two factors can help Barcelona land the winger after negotiating a move with the Reds.
Luis Diaz will be a perfect fit for Hansi Flick’s team, which is looking for a wide player who can beat defenders and also score. The Catalans tried to get such a player in the last summer transfer window as well but were unable to land their preferred candidate, i.e., Nico Williams.
Meanwhile, the player himself has never hidden his desire to play in the blue and garnet jersey, a factor that will further facilitate Barcelona in their negotiations with Liverpool.
While the Blaugranes are looking at some other interesting options like Rafael Leao, Marcus Rashford, and Nico Williams, Diaz still remains the most attractive option for the Catalans for the next summer.
