Insider: Chelsea favourites to sign €50m winger whose “dream” is Premier League move

Christian Falk’s Daily Briefing for this week has dropped, and we’re delighted to see some Chelsea coverage in there.
The insider has declared the Blues to be favourites in a game of “transfer poker” that we’re really interested in. Falk is best plugged in in the Bundesliga, and it’s one of the German top flight’s rising stars that he’s concerned with here.
The Blues have been extensively linked to Jamie Gittens for a while, and it seems like this is the summer that the Borussia Dortmund winger makes the move. Falk says we’re favourites, but that “the question is, how much money are [Chelsea] prepared to pay?”
He says that Dortmund’s asking price for the English talent has already dropped precipitously from €100m to €50m, because Gittens doesn’t fit into new coach Niko Kovac’s system. That has only enhanced Gittens’ desire to move, and the winger’s “dream is a transfer to the Premier League.”

We report on a lot of transfer which aren’t very realistic, but this one looks more than possible. He’s English, the right age, and plays in a position where it’s been reported many times we’re looking for more depth. With Mykhailo Mudryk facing a long ban and Jadon Sancho’s future uncertain, left wing is a position that still needs improvement.
Dortmund want to sell and are asking a reasonable price. Chelsea are interesting in buying him and he fits a need for the squad. The player seems like he’d be happy making the switch. No wonder Falk says we’ve got the best chance of prevailing.
If the German side really would accept €50m, that would seem a bargain. We will follow update on this one closely as the story develops, but we expect positive noises soon.
