Inter Milan coach Simone Inzaghi says Nicolo Barella “took a blow” in today’s win over Lecce, but there are “no alarms.”

The Nerazzurri coach spoke in a press conference after the Serie A win, as reported by FCInterNews. He updated on Barella’s condition after an injury scare.

If there was one thing that could have spoiled Inter’s party at the Stadio Via del Mare this evening, it would have been an injury to an important player.

Midfielder Barella certainly qualifies as that.

The 27-year-old had gotten a rest from the starting eleven against Lecce this evening. However, he did come on to help the team see out the match when his team was already 4-0 up.

Barella went down clutching his knee in pain after challenging for the ball with Lecce wingback Patrick Dorgu.

Initially, it was not clear what the issue was. But considering that Barella was holding his knee, the worry was that it could be a rupture to his ACL – something that could potentially rule him out for many months.

Inzaghi: “Nicolo Barella Took A Hit – But We’re Not Alarmed”

Barella did eventually seem to shake whatever problem he had suffered off.

The Italian international was even able to come back on to the pitch and play for the rest of the match.

After the match, Inter coach Simone Inzaghi said that “Now he seems to be in good condition.”

“We’re not alarmed,” the coach went on.

“He took a big hit,” Inzaghi noted. “But there don’t seem to be any problems.”

Meanwhile, the Inter coach also said that he has “always relied on” midfielder Davide Frattesi.

“He feels the love from his teammates and the fans,” Inzaghi said of Frattesi, who’s been linked with a move away this month.

“Along with everyone else who’s never missed a beat when they’ve had to come off the bench.”

“Today he showed total dedication. He was one of the best players on the pitch.”
