Inter and Napoli played out a remarkable 4-4 draw this evening.

The Nerazzurri went ahead early. But then Juventus quickly came back to take a 2-1 lead.

Then, Inter scored twice in quick succession themselves to go into the break 3-2 ahead.

Dumfries was the player who scored a fourth for Inter in the second half, giving them a two-goal cushion.

However, two goals from Bianconeri substitute Kenan Yildaz levelled the scoreline in improbable fashion.

One team who won’t mind this evening’s result are Napoli.

The Partenopei have been amassing points steadily at the start of this season. And with Inter and Juventus both dropping points, they have gone four points clear at the top of the Serie A table.

In response to the talk of Napoli “running away” with it, Dumfries said that “It’s still a long season.”

“We’re just at the start,” the 28-year-old insisted.

“We just have to focus on ourselves,” Dumfries said. “We’re just at the beginning.”

“But we do have to try and win these head-to-head matches,” the Dutchman admitted.

Of this evening’s draw, Dumfries said that “We were in control, we were for almost the entire match.”

“We lacked a bit of composure,” the Dutchman admitted. “Today we could have brought home an important win.”

“We missed too many balls in one-on-one situations,” Dumfries said.

The Dutchman said that “Our quality used to be defensive above all.”

“We were defending well as a team. Now we’re in a moment where we concede too many goals.”

“We need to talk it through together and try to improve at that aspect,” Dumfries said.
