Inter Milan Substitute Duo Under Fire For Second Half Displays In 4-4 Serie A Thriller Vs Juventus | OneFootball

Yann Bisseck and Davide Frattesi have received criticism for their performances in the second half of Inter Milan’s Serie A draw with Juventus.

Today’s print edition of Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport, via FCInterNews, argue that the introduction of the duo coincided with Inter completely losing control of the match.

Inter found themselves in a precarious position in the second half of yesterday evening’s Derby d’Italia.

The Nerazzurri had already conceded two goals. But they’d scored four at the other hand, and even created chances for more.

The match had been nothing short of a thriller up to that point.

But what Inter needed to do once they had a two-goal cushion was take the sting out of the match.

But unfortunately, the substitutions that Nerazzurri coach Simone Inzaghi did anything but allow the team to do that.

Bisseck & Frattesi Criticized For Substitute Displays In Inter Vs Juventus Clash

Inter coach Inzaghi had reasons to make both of the substitutions that he did.

In the case of Frattesi, the Nerazzurri coach was essentially out of options.

Piotr Zielinski started the match against Juventus. And the Pole did very well in his first ever start for Inter in Serie A.

But Zielinski was coming off the back of a muscle injury.

And the 30-year-old indicated to Inzaghi that he needed to come off due to some thigh discomfort.

Kristjan Asllani was also coming back from an injury, so despite being on the bench Inzaghi did not put him on.

Accordingly, the Inter coach added Frattesi to the fray, moving Nicolo Barella into the holding midfield role that Zielinski had been playing.

But Frattesi was not the player Inter needed at that moment in the match. The 25-year-old failed to control possession or tempo, a big factor in Juventus forcing their way back into the match.

Meanwhile, Inzaghi took off Benjamin Pavard because he had received a yellow card. This is by now a very familiar sight from the Inter coach.

But while Pavard had just about done a solid job defensively, his replacement Bisseck got it wrong as Kenan Yildiz scored a brace from the bench to earn Juventus an improbable point.
