Thuram has been a standout performer for Inter this season. With 13 goals, he’s the club’s leading goalscorer in Serie A. Furthermore, his on-field understanding with Lautaro Martinez has been the backbone of Inter’s vast success in the past two years.

Inzaghi fielded the 27-year-old from the first minute in Monday’s 2-1 home triumph against Fiorentina. However, Thuram had to come off in the first half after receiving a knock to his ankle. Marko Arnautovic, who took his place, scored the winning goal.

Despite his match-winning strike, the Austrian veteran will not start for Inter tonight. Unfortunately for the Nerazzurri faithful, Thuram will likely keep Arnautovic company on the bench. Despite partially recovering from the knock, Inzaghi won’t risk his talismanic forward.

Therefore, Mehdi Taremi could have a rare chance to start in Serie A. The 32-year-old Iranian joined Inter on a Bosman deal from Porto last summer. But he has yet to gain a foothold in Italy’s top flight. Except for a penalty in a 4-0 rout of Lecce last month, he hasn’t found the net in league action.
