Inter are in advanced talks to renew the contract of Francesco Pio Esposito, who is being tracked by Manchester United and Leicester City because of his strong performances with Spezia in Serie B.

According to Alfredo Pedullà, the talent will be tied to the Nerazzurri until 2030 once he puts pen to paper, with a pay rise. He had the chance to join Torino last summer, but he preferred staying at Spezia, where he had also played in the 2023/2024 campaign, to have a starring role and help the team. He has scored 14 goals in 26 games so far.

Inter intend to bring Esposito to the United States for the Club World Cup, Tuttomercatoweb informs. Simone Inzaghi will evaluate him during such a competition and in the pre-season. The Nerazzurri will need new forwards to replace Marko Arnautovic and Joaquin Correa, whose contracts are about to expire.

The 19-year-old is bound to play in Serie A I’m 2025/2026. The reigning Scudetto champions wouldn’t mind sending him back to Spezia if they were promoted. They are currently third, not far behind second place, and are close to having a large enough advantage over the chasers to prevent the playoffs from taking place altogether.

Napoli are very keen and could offer up to €20M. The Nerazzurri don’t intend to lose him permanently.

Our Take on Inter and Esposito

They would have cashed in on him to raise funds without weakening their squad in previous years, but they are in a different era now. He has been impressive and is physical beyond his years, but a year or two of seasoning in the top flight would help him more than getting spotty minutes in a top club.
