Ahead of Liverpool v Newcastle in the Carabao Cup Final, we are looking to gauge the thoughts of Newcastle United fans ahead of that 4.30pm kick-off at Wembley on Sunday.

So we have asked a number of regular and irregular contributors to The Mag a range of questions.

How they think things are looking ahead of this massive match.

Whether or not they have a ticket for this Carabao Cup Final and what they expect to see happen when Newcastle United meet Liverpool.

Next up we have Dan Elder:

Ticketed or ticketless for Sunday ?

Ticketed.

After going to every Carabao Cup match home and away this season, I found myself in pot 1, promptly deciding to select a ticket in the safe standing section behind the goal (hopefully help the lads if it goes to pens), after sitting in Club Wembley the previous time against Man United. Me (I’m 17 and currently doing my A Levels) and my Dad thought Club Wembley lacked atmosphere and weren’t going to make the same mistake again.

What are your plans for the weekend ?

Heading down to London on the train at lunchtime Friday, busting with anticipation for the Cup Final. We will be moving around London for the three nights that we stay there. Building up the excitement for the big day.

Would you rather win this cup final on Sunday or qualify for the Champions League via the Premier League?

I would definitely rather win on Sunday ahead of Champions League next season.

Would you take winning on Sunday and not qualifying for the Champions League for the next five seasons, or guaranteed Champions League the next five seasons and lose on Sunday?

I would certainly still choose to win the cup.

I think that when we win that first trophy in 70 years, it will be a domino effect and we’ll continue to win for many years to come.

What would your starting 11 be for Sunday ?

Martin Dubravka GK

Kieran Trippier RB

Dan Burn CB

Fabian Schar CB

Tino Livramento LB

Sandro Tonali CDM

Bruno Guimaraes CM

Joelinton CM

Harvey Barnes LW

Alexander Isak ST

Jacob Murphy RW

What about if all the Newcastle United squad had been fit and available?

If everyone had of been available, Anthony Gordon would’ve gone in for Harvey Barnes at that left wing position. Lewis Hall would’ve replaced Tino Livramento at that left back position, Tripps needs to start for the experience and leadership qualities that he has. Sven Botman would’ve swapped in for Fabian Schar at the centre back position.

What chances do Newcastle United have of lifting the trophy ?

My heart says 7/10 but my head says 5/10, just because of Liverpool’s prowess this season in the Premier League and their trophy winning background from the 1970s onwards.

But we have a 50/50 chance I think. Though we have to be at the top of our game and not shy away at the big occasion.

How important was the match against West Ham Utd to our chances of in the Cup Final and Liverpool losing to PSG in the UCL ?

Very important, huge away victory at West Ham that gives us the confidence to go into the final with a win under our belts.

Then a successful hate watch on Tuesday night, watching the scousers get dominated over the two legs by Paris Saint Germain and losing on penalties. Beating PSG 4-1 isn’t for everyone, haha.

It’s also crucial that we came out of the match with the Irons injury free, which is a massive plus.

Who do you think will be the three most important players on Sunday and why?

1st – Dubravka/Pope

Whichever one starts they need to have a cracking game against Liverpool’s dangerous attack and the barrage of shots they are going to face.

2nd – Alexander Isak

He is our talisman and needs to perform at Wembley, hopefully similar to his performance in our 3-3 draw with them earlier in the season, with his wonder goal against the reds.

3rd – Tino Livramento

Up against the best player in the Premier League at the present time, Salah is prolific if not contained. The Liverpool star has been managed well only a handful of times this season, most notably against PSG and Nottingham Forest.

Looking back on your time as a Newcastle United fan, what moments did you think that NUFC were potentially going to win something ?

There aren’t many, especially for me as I’m only 17, although I’ve been going since I was seven.

However, two games I can remember vividly and I thought we were going to win something. The first one isn’t a semi final or even a quarter final but the PSG group stage match at home, when we beat them 4-1, I thought we’d win every competition in sight that season but as history tells us, Newcastle United went on to have a ridiculous amount of injuries that campaign, crashed out of the UCL and didn’t qualify for any European competition for the following season.

The second game was the semi final second leg at home against Southampton and how amazing that was, especially with Sean Longstaff’s brace, it was a fantastic memory.

Anything special planned if/when we win this Cup Final?

I would honestly be happy for the rest of the year if Newcastle United lift the cup and I think it would bring many fans to tears if we win uit.

Do you think if Newcastle United win this trophy it will live up to what you ever hoped it feel like, or do you think maybe a bit of an anti-climax, as in…is that it?

Absolutely not, it’ll be like winning the lottery.

The whole of Newcastle will be in pandemonium.
