Kevin De Bruyne has spoken about his pride and joy after his trophy-laden 10-year City career approaches its end, following his final Etihad appearance in the 3-1 Premier League victory over Bournemouth.

Pep Guardiola's men moved up to third after an impressive display and result, with Omar Marmoush, Bernardo Silva and Nico getting on the scoresheet.

De Bruyne almost had the dream Etihad farewell with the score 1-0, but saw his close-range effort crash off the crossbar.

The Belgian announced his imminent departure last month and has won a remarkable 19 major honours with City, including six Premier League titles, two FA Cups, five League Cups, one UEFA Champions League, one FIFA Club World Cup, one UEFA Super Cup and three Community Shields.

Speaking after his final Etihad appearance, De Bruyne said: "It feels a bit weird. It’s been unbelievable to have the 10 years that I had with everything that happened here. It’s been an unbelievable ride and an absolute pleasure.

"I want to bring joy to people and play fancy football and be creative, it is what I am on the pitch. I want to have fun and I think we had a lot of fun in 10 years.

"Obviously you win and you lose sometimes, but it was a joy working really hard and creating something for this Club that brought the Club much better than it was before. I’m super proud.

"Life and a career is a journey. There’s been so many ups and obviously also downs. You have to get through all the moments to enjoy it. And every moment I enjoyed a lot. I learned from the bad moments. It’s been amazing.

"Very emotional. Manchester is home. It is where these little kids are born. I came here with my wife to live here a long time. I didn’t expect to be here for 10 years. We won everything.

"Everybody has pushed me so hard inside and outside the club to be the best version of myself. They’ve made me so much better than I was before. It’s been an absolute pleasure to play with these guys.

"The City fans have been so welcome from the beginning. To almost have a full stadium supporting me and my family, it’s indescribable and thank you very much."

The midfielder was also quizzed after the game about how he felt following his miss during the victory.

"Terrible! I said I just have to be there, it’s going to come. It’s terrible, terrible! There’s no excuses, no excuses.

"My son is going to be very tough on me tonight," he concluded jokingly.
