Ipswich Town striker Liam Delap has been linked with a move away from the club at the end of the season, and he is likely to join a bigger club in the summer.

According to Fabrizio Romano, the player is likely to join either Manchester United or Chelsea in the summer. Other European clubs are keen on securing his signature as well, but it seems that the Premier League giants are currently in pole position to secure his signature.

Romano revealed to GMS: “It’s between Man United and Chelsea now, both keen on signing the player. They’re ahead of Bundesliga clubs.”

Delap has done quite well for Ipswich this season, and he has 14 goal contributions to his name. He could prove to be a quality long-term acquisition for Manchester United or Chelsea.

The former Manchester City striker is likely to improve with coaching and experience, and he has all the tools to develop into a top-class Premier League striker.

It is no secret that Manchester United need a quality goal-scorer. Joshua Zirkzee and Rasmus Hojlund have been quite underwhelming for the Red Devils. Delap is well-settled in the Premier League, and he could help them improve in the attack. Regular football at a big club could help Delap improve as well.

As far as Chelsea are concerned, they have Nicolas Jackson at their disposal, but they need more quality in the attack. Delap could compete with him for the starting spot and eventually establish himself as the first-choice striker for the Blues.

Ipswich are set to go down to the Championship in the summer, and they are unlikely to be able to hold on to the young striker.
