Wherever the truth lies, it probably lies in between the two stories, it isn’t the end of the world that Manchester City won’t sign Florian Wirtz. That fact did appear lost in the reaction to the news that broke yesterday.

What is clear is that Manchester City have the plans in place for the summer transfer window. They wouldn’t have put all of their eggs in the Florian Wirtz basket.
