Jamie Redknapp sends warning to Arsenal about Alexander Isak | OneFootball

Jamie Redknapp has warned Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal that they may not be able to bring Newcastle United striker Alexander Isak to the Emirates Stadium in the summer transfer window.

The former Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool midfielder believes that Arsenal will challenge for the Premier League title next season if they are able to sign a top-quality striker.

Redknapp has highlighted that the problem that the North London club will face is finding an elite striker.

The Sky Sports pundit made the comments following Arsenal’s failure to win against Manchester United away from home at Old Trafford in the Premier League on Sunday.

Mikel Arteta’s side are now 15 points behind leaders Liverpool in second place in the Premier League table, although the Reds have played a game more.

Arsenal have been linked with a move for Newcastle striker Isak, with The Times reporting in February that both the Gunners and Liverpool are interested in the 25-year-old Sweden international, who cost the Magpies £63 million in transfer fees when they signed him from Real Sociedad in the summer of 2022 (Sky Sports).

BBC Sport quotes Redknapp as saying: “Arsenal will challenge for the Premier League title if they sign a striker in the summer. I am confident of that.

“But they need to sign an elite striker. The problem is that it is difficult to find one.

“Alexander Isak [of Newcastle] gets spoken about a lot. He is elite, but it is not going to be that easy. Arsenal won’t be the only club who will be in for him. There are talks of Barcelona wanting him.”

Isak is one of the best strikers in the Premier League, and there is no doubt that Newcastle star would be a great signing for Arsenal.

The Swedish star is 25 now and has his best years ahead of him. His experience and success in the English top flight means that he will be able to make an immediate impact at Arsenal.

Isak has scored 19 goals in 24 Premier League matches for Newcastle this season. He has also given five assists in those games.

The striker has scored a total of 50 goals and made eight assists in 76 Premier League matches.

However, the big problem is that Newcastle may not be willing to sell Isak in the summer, especially if Eddie Howe’s side qualify for the UEFA Champions League.
