Barcelona president Joan Laporta left supporters of the club altogether frustrated with his comments surrounding the Blaugrana’s plans for the final hours of the winter transfer window.

This came after the Spaniard hinted at a potential surprise last-minute move on the part of the Camp Nou brass.

Laporta was in attendance at the Mundo Deportivo gala on Monday night.

Faced by the media, the Barcelona chief was in turn inevitably drawn on the club’s intentions for the final hours of the transfer window.

And Laporta, in quotes sourced by Diario Sport, appeared to drop something of a bombshell upon responding:

“We are about to close an operation in the market that closes today that I am aware of Deco (working on) at the moment.”

These comments gave rise to hope on the part of the Blaugrana faithful that a surprise late-window addition to Hansi Flick’s squad could be on the cards.

No such signing, however, will be forthcoming.

This comes amid ensuing confirmation that Laporta, in fact, was referring to Manchester City’s imminent deal for Porto star Nico González, from which Barca will be entitled to 40% of the fee.
