In a stunning development, Sky Sports reports that Carlo Ancelotti could depart Real Madrid right after the Copa del Rey final later this month.

The Italian tactician has come under intense pressure after an ordinary season despite the team being bolstered by the addition of Kylian Mbappe.

Things got worse for Los Blancos over the past week as they suffered a series of defeats, including two against Arsenal which sent them packing out of the UEFA Champions League.

Immediately after last night’s defeat to the Gunners at the Santiago Bernabeu, reports of a potential exit started doing the rounds, especially with a representative from Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) being spotted in attendance.

It is no secret that the CBF want to appoint Ancelotti as the next manager of the Brazil national team and have been working behind the scenes to lure him away.

Now with Real Madrid also leaning towards bidding goodbye to the 65-year-old, it appears that a departure is now very much on the horizon.

In fact, Ancelotti is now expected to leave right after the Copa del Rey final against Barcelona on April 26 in Seville, meaning he will not even see the season through with the Spanish capital club.

It remains to be seen if Real Madrid bring in a replacement for the Italian right away or appoint an interim manager, such as Santiago Solari, to finish the campaign before naming Ancelotti’s successor.

Ancelotti is in his second stint at Real Madrid, having returned to the club in 2021. In his second tenure at the club, the Italian won two UEFA Champions League titles and two La Liga crowns along with various other trophies.
