Juventus coach Thiago Motta and director Cristiano Giuntoli said exactly the same words about French midfielder Paul Pogba, seemingly confirming that the club do not rely on him: ‘He was a great player.’
Pogba’s four-year ban was reduced to 18 months earlier this week, meaning the French midfielder could return to action in March 2025.
He’s under contract with Juventus until June 2026, but several sources in Italy claim the 31-year-old is not part of the club’s plans.
Juventus haven’t yet made an official decision on the future of the French midfielder, who hasn’t been training with the rest of the team since failing a doping test in August 2023.
However, recent words from Motta and Giuntoli seemingly suggest that the Serie A giants do not rely on the French midfielder anymore.
“Pogba was a great player,” Motta said at a press conference on Saturday, and Giuntoli repeated precisely the same words less than 24 hours later, minutes before a home Serie A match against Cagliari.
“We have to wait for the definitive appeal result,” said the Bianconeri’s director.
“Clearly, he was a great player but has been out for a long time. We’ll wait for the CAS result.”
Pogba has only made 12 appearances across all competitions with Juventus since returning to the club from Manchester United in 2022.
